Accused drug dealer charged after marijuana, heroin seized during traffic stop
Raymond Albert III, 32, of Paulina, was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of heroin, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, illegal carrying of weapons in the presence of controlled dangerous substances, possession of drug paraphernalia, headlights required, and driving under a suspended driver’s license.
The stop happened at 7:12 p.m. on LA 70 East after a deputy noticed an equipment violation. The Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office said that the violation was driving without headlights.
Albert was found to be driving the vehicle with a suspended driver’s license. The deputy also smelled what was suspected to be marijuana coming from the vehicle. Consent was given to look through the vehicle and the deputy found a gun, suspected heroin, suspected marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.
Deputies located 240 grams of marijuana and 0.1 grams of heroin along with a scale and packaging material.
APSO said Albert was not allowed to have a gun due to a prior conviction for possession of Vyvanse.
He was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center and remains there on $240,000 bond.
