75 displaced after evening blaze rips through San Jose apartment complex
The blaze broke out at 5:11 p.m. at a two-story garden apartment complex on the 5000 block of David Avenue, according to SJFD. Firefighters said the flames were in an attic. The fire was knocked down at 6:12 p.m. and placed under control at 7 p.m.
Officials said 22 residential units were impacted in the fire, including six that were severely damaged. The American Red Cross has been contacted to help the dozens of displaced residents.
There are so far no reports of any injuries.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
SJFD said traffic was stalled in the area of David Avenue between Winchester Boulevard and Monica Lane. Commuters were urged to avoid the area due to the incident.
