4th annual Creole Culture Day

GRAND COTEAU, La. (KLFY) — The 4th Annual Creole Culture Day will be held on Saturday, Oct. 4, at Town Hall Park in Grand Coteau.

The event is free and open to the public, offering a day of cultural programming that highlights the heritage of Louisiana Creoles, with a emphasis on the French language and Creole traditions in Louisiana.

Main activities begin at 10:00 a.m. and include Creole French Bingo, live music performances, a genealogy section to help individuals trace their Creole ancestry and various food trucks and vendors.

Musical entertainment will be provided by Step Rideau & the Zydeco Outlaws.

The event also includes a traditional hog butchering, at 6 AM. Demonstrations will be conducted in French, showcasing the preparation of staple Creole foods such as cracklins and boudin. Food from the butchering will be served to attendees at no cost.
