Wednesday almanac: Coolest temperatures in 16 days, but seasonable for late September
Wednesday high temperatures returned to seasonable levels following a two week plus run of days with highs well above normal. The official 73-degree high at O’Hare was the coolest of any day since September 8, a full 16 days ago.
We saw a little more than half of the possible sunshine on Wednesday as the month continues to average well above normal with plenty of sun on tap in the final days.
A bit of good news for allergy sufferers as weed and ragweed are both low while the mold continues to be an issue for those susceptible and continues in the high range.
Summerlike heat has been pushed south and confined to the Southwest U.S. and along the Gulf Coast and Southeastern U.S.
Highs were well above normal across the Northern Plains and Northern Rockies while temperatures returned close to normal across the Midwest and Great Lakes and Ohio Valley.
