Trade valuables for cash at this Topeka jewelry store

TOPEKA (KSNT) – A north Topeka jewelry store is getting ready to hold a buying event where people can come in to trade old valuables for cash.

Donaldson’s Jewelers will be hosting National Rarities in late September and early October this year for a special event where locals are invited to exchange things like watches, gold, coins and other items for money. Estate buying specialists from National Rarities will evaluate each piece and offer immediate cash payments.

  • 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 29.
  • 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 30.
  • 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 1.

Gloria Horn, owner of Donaldson’s Jewelers, said National Rarities usually sends a team of five buyers out during these events. She said it is common for her store to see around 200 to 250 people show up to take part in the buying event.

“Gold is really high right now so it’s a great time to sell,” Horn said. “People bring in quite a bit of gold, they collect it over the years. Quite a bit of it is ready to be recycled. It’s old and worn out.”

People interested in attending don’t need to make an appointment. Horn encourages attendees to avoid bringing in things like furniture, glass or plates as these are difficult items for National Rarities to transport safely. Items listed on National Rarities’ website that it will accept for the event include the following:

  • Fine jewelry.
  • Coins and currency.
  • Fine art, toys and rarities.
  • Scrap gold and silver.
  • Diamonds.
  • Sterling silver.
  • Watches.
  • Designer handbags.

Donaldson’s Jewelers can be found at 902 N. Kansas Ave. in the North Topeka Arts District area. You can call the store at 785-273-5080 or click here to visit its website. To learn more about will be accepted at the event, click here.
