Rabies alert issued for Charlotte area after bat tests positive

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A bat in Mecklenburg County has tested positive for rabies, according to the Mecklenburg County Department of Public Health.

There were no human exposures and one dog exposure.

An alert will be sent to residents on or near Choate Circle, Charlotte, 28273, at 7 p.m. Thursday.

This is the eighth positive rabies case in Mecklenburg County for 2025.
