Northwestern State University to host child welfare symposium

NATCHITOCHES, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Northwestern State University’s Title IV-E Child Welfare Scholar Program will host the Champions of Child Welfare: A Homecoming symposium from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, October 3, 2025.

According to a news release from NSU, the event is free and open to the public. Participants can earn four CEU credits, hear from foster care leaders, and learn strategies for self-care, burnout prevention, and courtroom communication. Donations to Fostering Community are encouraged.

Registration is available at nsu.la/childwelfaresymposium. A free Homecoming tailgate will follow at 3 p.m. Saturday, October 4, 2025, at the tailgate field.
