
Officials said the investment will enable a 61,000 square foot expansion and create 35 new jobs over the next five years. Aside from production expansion, the added space will increase capacity for a test lab and a customer demonstration room, officials said.
Company representatives stated that construction began in Q2 2025 and is expected to be completed by Q2 2027.
The company currently operates a 347,000-square-foot facility at its Mena site, employing roughly 400 workers. It has operated in Mena since 1966, producing U.S. MOTORS electric motors, primarily large industrial vertical and horizontal motors.
Arkansas Economic Development Commission representatives recently visited Nidec’s corporate headquarters in Kyoto, Japan, as part of a business development mission. During the visit, AEDC officials and Nidec executives had a positive discussion about the expansion and ongoing operations in Arkansas, according to officials.
