According to a news release, Langenstein’s was founded in 1922 by Micheal Langenstein and his sons. They have been owned by the family for generations with several locations around New Orleans.
“This was not an easy decision for our family,” said Ellis Lanaux, President and CEO of Langenstein’s. “We are proud of the legacy Langenstein’s has built and grateful for the generations of customers who have welcomed us into their homes.”
Robért Fresh Market is another locally owned grocer, founded in 1994. They will begin the transition through the middle of October.
“Langenstein’s is a name that carries history and heart in New Orleans,” said Marc Robért III, general manager of Robért Fresh Market. “We are proud to carry forward the legacy of Langenstein’s with the same care and commitment that has defined it for generations.”
Langenstein’s said the transition will be seamless for customers.
