Mother injured in Lafayette shooting, police investigate

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) — Police are investigating a shooting in Lafayette that resulted in a woman being shot.

At approximately 3:03 p.m., Lafayette Police responded to a shooting in progress in the 200 block of Leonie Street. Officials said an investigation revealed a domestic disturbance between a man, the suspect and his mother, who was the victim.

Officials said the victim suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot injury and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Police have the male suspect in custody. The Lafayette Police Department is investigating the incident and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
