More charges filed against ex-substitute teacher as another victim comes forward
In May, prosecutors leveled an additional dozen charges against Brittany Fortinberry, bringing her total number of criminal charges to 41. But the mountain of felony charges didn’t stop there.
Court documents reveal that another underage victim came forward in September, prompting even more charges to be filed against Fortinberry, including:
Her total now stands at 47 criminal counts.
Court documents reveal these latest charges stem from yet another underage victim coming forward during the investigation into Fortinberry.
Previous reports detail the disturbing allegations against Fortinberry and how the one-time substitute teacher is accused of sexually abusing some of her students and supplying them with drugs.
In one victim’s account, Fortinberry allegedly paid hundreds of dollars to students who sent her pictures of their genitals. In another, a victim recalled Fortinberry inviting a group of teens to her home and having sex with them while insisting one of the teens wear a Halloween mask from the horror film “Scream.”
Newly released documents reveal that police spoke with yet another victim in early September who had previously been scared to come forward. This underage victim recounted going to a concert with Fortinberry serving as a chaperone.
According to the victim, Fortinberry supplied the children with drugs, such as mushrooms and weed. The victim also said Fortinberry made sexual advances, both in the days before and after the concert, and engaged in various sex acts with the underage victim.
She also allegedly sent the child nude photographs of herself on Snapchat.
According to the victim, several area teenagers knew about Fortinberry supplying minors with drugs. It was also reportedly well-known that she sexually preyed on children.
“She just handed it out to anybody,” the victim told investigators.
Among Fortinberry’s 47 charges are multiple Level 1 felonies for child molestation. In Indiana, Level 1 felonies carry a potential sentence of up to 40 years in prison.
