“I’m introducing legislation to create the West Virginia Department of Government Efficiency,” Sen. Chris Rose (R-WV, District 2) said in a social media post on Monday.
“We must cut waste, slash bureaucracy, and make government work for YOU—not the other way around. Time for real fiscal conservatism in WV!” Rose said in the post.
Sen. Rose did not provide any other details about what WV DOGE would look like.
The U.S. Department of Government Efficiency was created by President Donald Trump in January and led to the termination of thousands of federal jobs in the U.S. including in West Virginia, although many of those jobs have been reinstated.
According to the U.S. DOGE website, the department has saved an estimated $206 billion in combined assets from reductions, including grant cancellations and workforce reductions.
