KINGS COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A Kings County K-9 Deputy helped bring down a felon who led officers on an intercounty suspected DUI chase, the sheriff’s office said.

On Sept. 5, around 9:30 p.m., the California Highway Patrol called Kings County deputies to notify them of a pursuit in the area of Gale Avenue and the California Aqueduct.

Soon after, the driver, who was identified as Jesus Inocencio by the sheriff’s office, stopped at a house near Gale Avenue and Avenal Cutoff Road and abandoned the vehicle.

That’s when K-9 Willie arrived to help.

While searching, a person called saying that a man was trying to break into their home’s attached storage room. Upon arrival, deputies said they found the door open, and shortly after, Willie found him hiding behind a storage bin along the wall of the residence.

After being treated by emergency medical services, Inocencio was arrested and booked into the Kings County Jail. He is facing multiple charges for evading a peace officer, disregard for public safety, resisting/obstructing arrest, driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs, and the active no-bail parole violation warrant.

Deputies say he was on parole for assault with a deadly weapon and had an active no-bail arrest warrant for parole violation. His bail was set at $105,000.
