Indy native makes film debut in Leonardo DiCaprio movie. What to know about Chase Infiniti:
The epic action thriller from writer-director Paul Thomas Anderson is set to screen in theaters nationwide beginning Thursday night, and one actress may look familiar to some Hoosiers.
Born and raised in Indianapolis, 25-year-old Chase Infiniti Payne is a graduate of North Central High School on the city’s north side. She uses her middle name, derived from a “Toy Story” quote, as her Hollywood surname.
According to Vanity Fair, her father is the owner of local construction company ARHI Bldg & Remodeling. Infiniti told the magazine she was encouraged by her mother to try local theater and was hooked from the beginning.
In 2017, Infiniti starred as Morticia in a production of “The Addams Family” at North Central and came on FOX59’s morning show to perform.
After graduating from NCHS, Infiniti went on to study performance at Columbia College Chicago and graduated in 2022. While in Chicago, Infiniti served as a kickboxing trainer and founded a K-pop dance group called the Duple Dance Crew.
Infiniti first appeared on screens last year in the Apple TV+ show “Presumed Innocent.” Playing the daughter of Jake Gyllenhaal, she was described as the “breakout star” of the series.
According to ScreenRant, Infiniti “randomly auditioned” for the role while working retail to support herself. From there, her career took off.
Infiniti next starred in the music video for Tyler, the Creator’s song “Darling, I” featuring Teezo Touchdown. Acting alongside Ayo Edebiri, Willow Smith, Lionel Boyce and more, it was Infiniti’s first professional music video. The video has since garnered over 4.5 million views on YouTube.
Then, in February 2024, it was announced that Infiniti had joined the cast of “One Battle After Another” alongside DiCaprio, Sean Penn, Benicio Del Toro, Teyana Taylor and more.
Infiniti plays Willa Ferguson in “One Battle After Another,” the daughter of former revolutionary Bob Ferguson. Played by DiCaprio, Bob goes on an adventure when his evil nemesis resurfaces and his daughter (Infiniti) goes missing.
The film premiered on Sept. 8 at the TCL Chinese Theater in Los Angeles before the cast and crew began a worldwide tour that included premiere stops in London, Mexico City and New York City.
Infiniti has been very active throughout the press tour for the movie, appearing in cast interviews and filming promotional social media videos with DiCaprio and Anderson.
The film made its Indianapolis debut on Wednesday night at the IMAX Theatre in the Indiana State Museum, one of only eight locations in the U.S. to show the film in 70 mm. In attendance were Infiniti’s parents and other friends who cheered when she first appeared on screen.
“One Battle After Another” has opened to rave reviews with a 98% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes from over 150 critics. Metacritic, which uses a weighted average, gave the film a 96/100 based on over 40 critic reviews.
Infiniti is next set to star in “The Testaments” on Hulu. A sequel to “The Handmaid’s Tale,” Deadline reported in February that the show was “nearly greenlit.”
The young actress is also listed to star alongside Corey Mylchreest in an upcoming movie from Niki Byrne titled “The Julia Set.” The plot of the film is reportedly under wraps as of September 2025.
