Drivers facing rush hour backups after semi crash along Indiana Toll Road

HAMMOND, Ind. — An early-morning crash involving a semi along the Indiana Toll Road is causing some backups for drivers on Thursday.

The crash unfolded in the eastbound lanes, near Calumet Avenue, in Hammond on Thursday morning.

While the circumstances surrounding the incident are currently unclear, the crash appears to have involved a semi truck.

SkyCam 9 was over the scene around 7 a.m. when the FedEx semi with front-end damage could be seen resting partially on top of the center barrier.

Because of the crash, crews have shut down the eastbound lanes, though some traffic seems to be getting by on the far right shoulder.

It is unclear what led to the crash or how long the closures could last.
