Alexandria Museum of Art hosts block-n-roll print day on Oct. 4
The free, family-friendly event will showcase the art of printmaking in all its forms – from playful Lego and vegetable prints to large-scale works pressed by a steamroller. Throughout the day, visitors can explore a series of interactive printmaking stations designed for all ages and skill levels.
Stations will include children’s print tables using Legos and vegetables, a bandana station with pre-carved designs, a tote bag station for custom compositions, and a paper-printing area for cards and stationery. While admission is free, a small fee will be charged for textile printing. Volunteers will be available to guide participants through each activity.
One of the event’s highlights will be a live demonstration of large-format steamroller printing, featuring original works created by artists from across Louisiana – including a collaborative piece by Louisiana State University of Alexandria students enrolled in the museum’s “Introduction to Printmaking” seminar this semester.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to support our community’s creativity and see emerging artists work alongside professionals,” said Olivia Helmer, curator at the Alexandria Museum of Art.
Block-n-Roll Print Day will take place at the Alexandria Museum of Art, 933 Second Street in downtown Alexandria.
