10 pounds of meth seized from Oregon man's vehicle
Theodore Ernest Jokinen, 48, made his first appearance in federal court for the charges on Sept. 24, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Oregon.
The Central Oregon Drug Enforcement Team received information that Jokinen was involved in the distribution of controlled substances, according to court documents obtained by KOIN 6. Once they obtained a warrant, detectives began to monitor Jokinen’s phone data.
Officers from The Dalles Police Department stopped Jokinen for speeding as he traveled back into Oregon from Yakima, Washington, and a drug detection dog alerted them to the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle.
Approximately 10 pounds of meth was recovered from a backpack inside the vehicle, according to the court documents.
Jokinen has multiple prior convictions for delivery of a controlled substance, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. His arraignment is set for Oct. 22.
