Woman killed in head-on car crash in St. John the Baptist Parish

ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH, La. (WGNO) — A woman was killed in a car crash on I-10 in St. John the Baptist Parish Tuesday, Sept. 23.

According to the Louisiana State Police, the crash claimed the life of 21-year-old Patricia Saidu of Baton Rouge and seriously injured another.

The LSP said a GMC Yukon entered I-10 the wrong way from US 51 in Laplace and began traveling east in the westbound lanes. A Nissan Altima was traveling westbound on I-10. The GMC struck the Nissan head-on, causing both vehicles to catch fire.

The driver of the GMC suffered serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Saidu suffered serious injuries and died on the scene.
