‘This is Halloween’: Events to celebrate the holiday across Utah

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — It’s time for costumes, candy, and everything scary. If you’re still looking for a way to enjoy October and Halloween festivities, check out our list of upcoming events.

Our list is organized alphabetically by county. This article will be updated with new events frequently, leading up to Halloween. Some counties have not listed any public festivities yet. If we’re missing a Halloween celebration,

This article includes a variety of events, while most are family-friendly, some celebrations are 18 or 21+ only. Events for adults only will be labeled as such.

Beaver County

Minersville Punkin’ Fest: The Minersville Punkin’ Fest is set for Saturday, Sept. 27, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. The family-friendly event promises activities for the whole family, including corn hole tournaments, cookie decorating, bounce houses, a fishing pond, and more. Proceeds from the bake sale and raffle will go toward supporting two local women fighting cancer. Find out more about the event here.

Box Elder County

Big Blue Pumpkin Walk: This year, Utah State University’s Brigham City campus is hosting its fifth annual Big Blue Pumpkin Walk. Local businesses and community members set up elaborate displays with pumpkins, whether they’re painted, carved, or just well-decorated. The pumpkin walk is open on Friday, Oct. 24, from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 25, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. The trail starts at the corner of 1000 S and 200 E in Brigham City. Brigham City Pumpkin Float and Trunk ‘R Treat: On Oct. 14 at 6:30 p.m., Brigham City is hosting a pumpkin float and Trunk R Treat event. Participants can bring a pre-carved pumpkin to float on the pond at Rees Pioneer Park (800 W Forest St) and enjoy a Trunk or Treat put on by the Brigham City Police Department. Halloween Family Night at the Museum: The Brigham City Museum of Art and History (24 N 300 W) will be holding a free Halloween family night on Friday, Oct. 24, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The museum will be offering spooky crafts, games, and exploration of the museum’s exhibits and displays. Mantua Hot Dogs for Halloween: While it may not be a big event, those living in Mantua are invited to stop by Town Hall (409 N Main St) between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. to get a free hot dog before trick or treating. Visit Mantua’s website to learn more.

Monsters and Mummies: The Fine Arts Center (58 S 100 W) in Brigham City is hosting a fall break activity themed around Halloween. The event will take place on Oct. 16, and there will be two sessions: one from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and one from 1 to 2:30 p.m. The activity promises a puppet show, treats, stories, games, crafts, and a Halloween maze. Boo at the Zoo: Zootah (419 W 700 S) in Logan is hosting its annual Boo at the Zoo event. This takes place on Oct. 9, 10, and 11 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Center Street Giant Pumpkin Festival: The annual Center Street Giant Pumpkin Festival is being held on Saturday, Sept. 27, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Historic Center Street in Logan. The festival features live music, a vendor market, activities for children, a pumpkin pie-eating contest, and more. The main event is the giant pumpkin weigh-off, where farmers bring in their giant pumpkins to determine the largest one. Find out more on Anderson’s Seed and Garden website.

Lewiston Halloween Carnival and Chili Cookoff: On Halloween, Oct. 31, Lewiston City is hosting a carnival and chili cookoff from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Lewiston Library (29 S Main St) and city offices. There is a $5 entry fee to participate in the cookoff. Also at the event will be a kids carnival, and hot dogs and chips will be for sale to enjoy alongside the chili. Find out more here.

North Logan Pumpkin Walk: Every year, community members in North Logan come together to make intricate and entertaining displays out of pumpkins and gourds. From pumpkins stacked and painted like Taylor Swift and Bluey to detailed carvings of your favorite characters, this event is sure to impress. The Pumpkin Walk is being held on Oct. 16, 17, 18, 20, and 21 this year, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. Smithfield Trick or Treat Street: On Friday, Oct. 17, from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., there will be a Trick or Treat Street event at the Forrester Acres Sports Complex (500 W 100 N) in Smithfield. This event promises trick or treating, food trucks, candy drops, dance performances, photo opportunities, and more. Admission is free, but donations are being accepted to go to the Cabo Verde Care Association to help after the recent flooding. Find out more here.

Carbon County

Desert Ducks Halloween Bingo: The Desert Ducks is hosting a Halloween “Bingo for ‘Boomsticks'” event on Saturday, Oct. 25, at 6 p.m. The bingo game is being held at the Carbon County Events Center (450 S Fairgrounds Way, Price), and the entry fee is $25. The event promises a costume contest, pizza dinner, prize entry, an annual Ducks Unlimited Membership, and a Ducks Unlimited hat. Price Main Street Mash: On Saturday, Oct. 25, Price is hosting its third annual Main Street Mash. The celebration runs from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Downtown Price Main Street. The city promises a trunk or treat, games, food trucks, and more. To learn more about this event, visit the county’s website.

Daggett County

Daggett County Trunk or Treat: Daggett County is hosting a trunk or treat on Halloween, Oct. 31, starting at 5 p.m. at Daggett County Park (95 1st N, Manila). More details about the event are currently limited, but this article will be updated with more information as it is available on the county’s website.

Davis County

Centerville Fall Festival: The Centerville Youth Council and Whitaker Museum are hosting the annual Fall Festival on Monday, Oct. 13, this year. The event is being held at the William R. Smith Park (300 N 100 E) from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Celebrations will include carving pumpkins, crafts, activities, and Banbury Cross pumpkin donuts. Centerville Library Spooktacular Crafts: The Davis County Library is hosting a Halloween craft night at the Centerville Branch (45 S 400 W) on Wednesday, Oct. 1, at 6:30 p.m. Those who want to participate are invited to the library for a fun night of spooky crafts. The library notes that accommodations for those with special needs can be made if one contacts the branch manager ahead of the event. Check out the county library’s website to learn more.

Clearfield Howl-o-ween: Clearfield City is hosting a free Howl-o-ween event at Barlow Park (2100 S 500 W) on Oct. 18 from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Dog owners are invited to dress up their dogs in costumes to collect treats and participate in a costume parade. Clearfield Pumpkin Float: On Monday, Oct. 20, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Clearfield City is holding another Halloween event: the pumpkin float. This is a free event where community members are invited to bring carved pumpkins and set them afloat on Steed Pond (550 N 1000 W). The city will provide everything needed to get them out onto the water, and they also promise the “pumpkin cannon” at the event. For more information, check out Clearfield’s website.

Clearfield Boonanza: Clearfield City is hosting a third Halloween event, this one on Friday, Oct. 24, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The Boonanza is Clearfield’s annual Halloween carnival, offering games, candy, prizes, and more. Tickets are $5 online and $10 at the door, and the event will be held at the Clearfield Aquatic and Fitness Center (825 State St). Learn more about the event and buy tickets on Clearfield’s website.

Clinton Halloween Walk: Clinton City’s annual Halloween Walk has a new location this year: the Civic Center Softball Complex (2300 1700 W). This event is being held on Monday, Oct. 6, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Halloween Walk is free to attend and will be decorated with pumpkins carved by local students. Layton Halloween Bash: Layton’s annual Halloween Bash is being held on Friday, Oct. 17, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. this year at the Layton Ampitheater Plaza (403 N Wasatch Dr). The celebration is free, and attendees can look forward to Halloween games, live music from the Tron Jockeys, yard games, a costume contest, and more. Layton “Whispers in the Dark”: The day after their Halloween Bash, Layton City is hosting an “enchanting evening of stories, performances, and fall fun” at the Layton Recreation Center (465 North Wasatch Dr). On Saturday, Oct. 18, between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m., the city is hosting a free event with family-friendly scary stories, live entertainment, yard games, vendors, and food trucks. The Utah Storytellers Guild and Davis Arts Council will be doing performances. More information about the celebration is available on the city’s website.

Layton Library Halloween String Art: On Saturday, Oct. 11, at 3 p.m., the Davis County Library is hosting a Halloween String Art craft event at the Layton Branch (155 N Wasatch Dr). Those who want to participate are invited to the library to make their own Halloween string art using push pins and embroidery thread. North Salt Lake Trot and Treat: The City of North Salt Lake is hosting a Trot and Treat 5K, Kids Fun Run, and Park Spooktacular on Saturday, Oct. 25, starting at 10 a.m. at Tunnel Springs Park (1080 Eaglepointe Dr). Details about the event are currently limited, but the city will be providing more information on its website as it gets closer.

Syracuse Pumpkin Walk: The Syracuse City Pumpkin Walk is being held on Oct. 23, 24, and 25, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. daily at Founders Park (1700 S 1904 W). The event is free to the public and promises lit carved pumpkins, live jazz music, and food trucks. There will also be competitions for the best haunted house and the best Halloween candy gingerbread house. Syracuse City is currently looking for volunteers to help carve their 1,000+ pumpkins. West Bountiful Trunk or Treat: West Bountiful Police and the West Bountiful Youth Council are hosting a Halloween trunk or treat and family fun walk on Halloween, Oct. 31. The festivities run between 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The city hasn’t provided a location for the event yet, but updates on the planned celebration will be available on West Bountiful’s website.

West Point Fall Festival: This year, West Point is hosting its first-ever Fall Festival. The festival is being held on Saturday, Oct. 11, from noon to 4 p.m. at Loy Blake Park (550 N 3500 W). Attendees can look forward to free admission to a trunk or treat at the car show, farmers market, straw maze, carnival games, and “Creepy Candy Creation” displays. Food trucks will also be on site. Duchesne County

Duchesne County Development Corporation Fall Festival: The Duchesne County Development Corporation (DCDC) is hosting a free Halloween event on Thursday, Oct. 9, between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. at Old Mill Park (278 E 100 N) in Roosevelt. The event promises a pumpkin decorating contest, costume contest, bounce house, free games, refreshments, and more. Find out more about the event by visiting the DCDC’s Facebook page.

Roosevelt Halloween Parade: The Duchesne Chamber of Commerce, Roosevelt City, and Wee Bit Used are hosting a Halloween Parade and festivities on Oct. 31, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Main Street. Spookfest at Fred Hayes State Park: Channel X94 is hosting a Halloween Spookfest at Fred Hayes State Park (24220 W 7655 S State Park Rd) in Duchesne. The festival is set for Friday, Oct. 24, from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., and the movie screening begins at 7 p.m. Attendees can look forward to games and activities for all ages, live entertainment, haunted houses, a movie on the beach, and a costume contest. Emery County

Desert Edge Christian Church Harvest Festival: The Desert Edge Christian Church (500 S Main St) in Huntington is hosting its fourth annual Harvest Festival on Saturday, Oct. 11, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The event promises “good ole fashioned fun with a little Jesus.” Festivities include booths, bingo, prize drawings, bounce houses, and more. Halloween Sunset Hike and Constellations: Goblin Valley State Park in Green River will be hosting two events leading up to Halloween. On Saturday, Oct. 18, at 6:30 p.m., visitors can enjoy a Halloween Sunset Hike with a ranger. You can look forward to learning about spooky animals and possibly spotting some scorpions. The following Friday, Oct. 24, visitors can meet at the Observation Point at 8:30 p.m. to learn about spooky myths of the sky and view constellations. Halloween Town Carnival and Fundraiser: The Museum of the San Rafael (70 N 100 E) will be hosting a carnival and fundraiser on Halloween, Oct. 31, starting at 3 p.m. Details about the event are currently limited, but more information will be available on the museum’s Facebook page as it is released.

Garfield County

Panguitch Main Street Carnival and Trunk or Treat: On Halloween evening, Panguitch will be hosting a Halloween carnival and trunk or treat event. The carnival runs between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. along Center Street and Main Street. Attendees at the carnival can look forward to a bake sale, face painting, games, dinner, and more. The trunk or treat will be in the Panguitch Drug parking lot, and starts at 6 p.m. For more information about the festivities, visit Panguitch’s website.

Grand County

Moab Trunk or Treat: On Halloween, Oct. 31, a trunk or treat will take place in Moab. The event will take place between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. at Ballfield Road near the Old Spanish Trail Arena. Details are currently limited, but more information will be available on the Grand County website as plans are solidified.

Iron County

Iron County Care and Scare Halloween Bash (18+): Iron County Care and Share, a nonprofit that offers a food pantry and emergency shelter in Cedar City, is hosting its annual Halloween event and fundraiser at the Courtyard by Marriott (1294 S Interstate Dr). The event is set for Saturday, Oct. 25, from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. There will be plenty of festivities, including a costume contest, a DJ, snack and drink bar, and more. Nature Hills Farm Harvest Fest: Nature Hills Farm (4326 N 2100 E) in Cedar City will be hosting its Harvest Fest on two dates this year. Guests can look forward to attending on Saturday, Oct. 4, between 12 p.m. and 6 p.m., or Monday, Oct. 13, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The Harvest Fest has over a dozen activities to enjoy, including a hayride, archery, face painting, and animal encounters. Our House Assisted Living Fall Festival: Our House Assisted Living (995 Regency Rd) in Cedar City is hosting a fall festival, and community members are invited. The event promises pumpkin crafts, a silent auction, a chili cookoff, and a mini petting zoo. The festival is scheduled for Oct. 3, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Go here for more information about the event.

Parowan Fall Fest: Parowan’s Fall Fest on Main Street is being held on Saturday, Oct. 11, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The festivities will include a car show, vendors, food, crafts, and games. Cedar City Pumpkin and Scarecrow Festival: The Cedar City Chamber of Commerce and Cedar View Pediatric Dentistry are hosting their 25th annual Pumpkin and Scarecrow Festival on Saturday, Oct. 11, this year. The festival runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Diamond Z Arena (11 S Cross Hollow Dr). Attendees can look forward to a pumpkin patch, scarecrow displays, face and nail painting, and local vendors. USU Extension Halloween Fun: The Utah State University Extension in Juab County is hosting a Halloween event on three Mondays in October: Oct. 13, 20, and 27. The event is for children eight and older, and it is $8 per child. The USU Extension (160 N Main St Ste 217, Nephi) promises crafts, games, and Halloween surprises. Duck Creek Village Trunk or Treat: Duck Creek Village is hosting a trunk or treat on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Duck Creek Community Church (830 Church Dr). Community members are invited to decorate their side-by-side or vehicle, and there will be a contest for the best-decorated trunk. The event also promises hayrides. Halloween Howl: The Paiute Trail Jamboree is hosting a Halloween event on Saturday, Oct. 25, at Butch Cassidy’s Resort (339 S Highway 89) in Circleville. Check-in is at 9 a.m., followed by breakfast, then the trail ride departs at 10:30. After a break, there will be a trunk or treat in the resort’s parking lot at 3 p.m. The night will wrap up with poker run prizes, a drawing, and a costume contest. Salt Lake County

Bluffdale Halloween Trunk-or-Treat: Bluffdale, alongside My Summit Adventures, will be hosting a trunk or treat event on Tuesday, Oct. 28. Currently, details are limited about the event, but ABC4 will update this article when more information is announced. Visit Bluffdale’s website to learn more.

Cottonwood Heights Monster Mash: On Friday, Oct. 24, Cottonwood Heights is hosting a monster mash for kids aged 12 and under at the Cottonwood Heights Recreation Center (7500 S 2700 E). The event promises carnival games with prizes, ice skating, a craft booth, and a photo booth. There will also be special creepy, crawly guests from Scales and Tails. Draper Haunted Trail: To celebrate Halloween, Draper City hosts a Haunted Trail hike for children 15 years and younger. The Haunted Trail will be at the Ballard Arena (1600 Highland Dr) for three days, Oct. 16, 17, and 18. Tickets are for timed entry slots between 4:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. and cost $3.25 per child. The Haunted Trail will be dressed up for Halloween with fog machines, spooky scenes, and creepy music. More information about the event is available on Draper’s website.

Giant Pumpkinpalooza and Zombie Walk: The Gateway (400 W 200 S) in Salt Lake City is bringing back this event for a second year. Visitors can see giant pumpkins line the sidewalk as vegetable growers compete for the “coveted orange jacket.” Activities like a pie-eating contest, soda chugging contest, dance off, and a costume contest are also promised. This event runs from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11, and is free to explore. Check out the Gateway’s website for more information.

Herriman Howl: This year, Herriman, alongside the Lone Peak Herriman Emergency Room, is hosting the Herriman Howl. The whole family can enjoy fun activities like a Scales and Tails “Reptile Research Camp,” a jungle obstacle course, an interactive pirate ship and show, a dog costume contest, pumpkin decorating, and so much more. Holla-ween (Holladay): Holladay City is hosting Holla-ween on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The event will be held at the back of Holladay City Hall (4580 S 2300 E), and attendees can look forward to a pet costume contest, pumpkin bowling, face painting, treats, and more. Midvale Main Street Trick or Treat: On Saturday, Oct. 25, Midvale is hosting a trick-or-treat event on Main Street. People of all ages are invited to enjoy a magician, a DJ, characters from the Castle of Chaos, performances from Beetlejuice, costume contests for all ages, and more. Odd Lake City Halloween Festival: The Odd Lake City Halloween Festival is set to take place at the Salt Lake Masonic Temple (650 E S Temple St) from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25. The event is for all ages and promises food trucks, face painting, handmade art, and plenty of vendors. This year, there will be a rave afterparty for anyone over the age of 21, but the main event is for everyone. Learn more about the event on their Facebook page.

Pumpkin Smash and Food Drive: Once you’ve finished celebrating Halloween, Glover Nursery (9275 South 1300 West) and the Utah Food Bank are inviting you to the 11th annual pumpkin smash on Saturday, Nov. 1, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Grab your Jack-O-Lanterns and leftover pumpkins and prepare to smash them for a good cause. Remember to bring a non-perishable food donation or monetary donation for entry, and enjoy games, activities, and prizes for kids and adults alike. Riverton Halloween Bash: Riverton City is hosting a free Halloween event on Monday, Oct. 13, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Riverton City Park (1452 W 12600 S). Festivities will include candy, games, and activities for children of all ages. Chick-fil-A will be selling meals for $7. A themed photo station and Scare Rodeo Spook Alley will be at the event. Samhain Festival: The Utah Pagan Market will be hosting a Samhain Festival on Sunday, Oct. 19, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Samhain is an “ancient festival marking the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter,” the market says. This event will be held at the Utah State Fairpark (155 1000 W) and promises trick or treating, a fire show, a costume parade, workshops, quests, and much more. Salt Lake City Monster Block Party: On Saturday, Oct. 25, Salt Lake City is hosting a Monster Block Party at the Regional Athletic Complex (2280 N Rose Park Lane). The Halloween celebration runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and promises live performances, free trunk or treating, inflatables, and a pumpkin drop. South Jordan Pumpkin Promenade: South Jordan City will be hosting a Pumpkin Promenade, with free hot cocoa and donuts from Banbury Cross while supplies last. Attendees can see all of the entries into the pumpkin carving and decorating contest while enjoying spooky decorations. South Salt Lake Spooktacular: The South Salt Lake Spooktacular is set for Oct. 17, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the South Salt Lake Community Center (2531 S 400 E). Spooktacufur: Spooktacufur is an all-ages event for furries being held on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Embassy Suites in West Valley City (3524 Market St). The event promises booths from local artists, a live presentation from HawkWatch International, a silent charity auction, panels, crafts, and more. Tickets are $15, and kids under 10 are free. Spooktacular Monster Ball and Carnival (18+): On Halloween night, adults are invited to a classy Spooktacular Monster Ball and Carnival. The event is on Friday, Oct. 31, at the Commercial Club (32 East Exchange Place, Salt Lake City). Check-in begins at 7:30 p.m., and the event wraps up at 11 p.m. Attendees can look forward to Victorian-style decor, dressing up in costume, a lively dance floor, contests, prizes, and light refreshments. Taylorsville City Boo Dash: This year, Taylorsville City is hosting its first-ever Boo Dash, a Halloween fun run for all ages on Saturday, Oct. 25, at 10 a.m. The event is free, but all participants are required to register, as the event is limited to 250. Manti Halloween Festival: The Manti Halloween Festival is scheduled for Oct. 26, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Manti City Sports Park (998 100 E). To participate in the trunk or treat, families are asked to bring a bag of candy, a donation for the food bank, or provide a monetary donation. Mt. Pleasant Walk with the Dead: On Saturday, Oct. 11, Mt. Pleasant City and the Mt. Pleasant Historical Association are hosting a day full of activities.
