Police were called to the 3600 block of Michigan Ave. just after 7:30 am on September 23 for a reported armed person. Investigators learned that the victim had returned home from dropping off a child at a nearby school when the suspect, identified as Jacobe Harris, 33, approached her.
The two exchanged words, and Harris allegedly pointed a black firearm at the victim. She fled on foot, and Harris pursued her. Unable to locate the victim, Harris reportedly went to the victim’s mother’s nearby home. He was denied entry into the house and allegedly fired multiple rounds into the yard before leaving the scene.
The gunfire injured no one.
SPD detectives located Harris at another residence and he was arrested for being a felon in possession of a firearm, aggravated assault with a firearm, illegal use of a firearm, resisting an officer and simple escape.
Shreveport police said Harris’s prior convictions for home invasion, domestic violence, and other felonies prohibit him from having a firearm.
