The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office is asking residents in northern Minnesota to be on the lookout for an escaped prisoner.
According to the sheriff’s office, Michael Todd Hart, 40, escaped from the Northeast Regional Corrections Center (NERCC) in Saginaw near Duluth on Tuesday. He is believed to be travelling north on foot.
Hart is described as 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing 169 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a yellow sweatshirt, a grey t-shirt and blue pants.
Anyone who sees Hart is advised not to approach him and should contact 911 immediately.
The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office said that he was being held at the facility for first-degree burglary.
According to their website, NERCC is Minnesota’s only correctional work farm and describes itself as a “high integrity correctional facility in a work farm setting providing Justice-Involved Men educational opportunities and practical skills to thrive in the world after rehabilitation.”
