HAMLIN, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – Five suspects have been arrested in connection with a burglary ring in Jones County that targeted homes and businesses.

According to the Hamlin Police Department, two suspects were arrested Monday after allegedly breaking into two homes and several outbuildings. The suspects, Cody Bass and Laura Watson, were booked into the Jones County Jail. They are charged with two counts of burglary of a habitation, three counts of burglary of a building, and one count of possession of a criminal instrument.

Police also recovered a stolen vehicle and a large amount of stolen property. On Tuesday, police announced that three additional suspects were arrested.

“Last night’s arrests are a major step forward in dismantling a well-organized network responsible for a series of break-ins and property crimes. Thanks to the tireless work of the Hamlin Police Department, we are closer to bringing those responsible to justice,” the Hamlin Police Department shared online.

The three additional suspects, two men and one woman from the area, are believed to have helped plan and carry out the burglaries. Their identities have not been released at this time. Their charges include burglary in the second degree, possession of stolen property, theft of copper, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, unauthorized possession of brass and copper, and possession of methamphetamine.

Recovered property includes firearms, electronics, tools, and jewelry, with several items already returned to their owners.

The investigation remains ongoing, and police are working with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) and the Texas Department of Public Safety. Investigators believe the group could be linked to similar crimes in the surrounding areas.
