Goatoberfest coming this weekend

CULLMAN, Ala. – Goat Island Brewing will kick off this year’s Oktoberfest celebrations with Goatoberfest. There will be live music Friday, Sept. 26, starting at 7 p.m., then a full day of fun Saturday, Sept. 27, from 11 a.m.-11 p.m. 

Goat Island Tap Room Manager Mandy Hamm said Saturday will include events for the whole family. 

“We will have delicious German cuisine catered by Joey Smith from Smokin Joe’s food truck, a large bounce house obstacle course, goat petting zoo, face painting and crafts including slime making for the kids,” Hamm said. “There will be an Alabama Stein Hoisting Championship qualification at 6 p.m. The winner from the men’s and women’s rounds will receive prizes and compete at the state championship the following week at Cullman Oktoberfest.”  Hamm said in-house there will be delicious craft beer, house-made wine and wine slushies being served all day. 

“There will be a number of vendors outside including boiled peanuts and healthy treats for your dog,” Hamm said. “There will be live music all day from some talented local musicians. Justin and Tab will be on the inside stage from 11-2. German music from the talented Cullman Community Band on the outside stage from 2-3. Razz MaTazz on the inside stage from 3-6. Last, Ave G will be on the inside stage to end the night from 7-11.”

Goat Island Brewing is located 1646 John H Cooper Dr. SW in Cullman. 

“Join us beginning on Friday, Sept. 26, to kick off our Goatoberfest two-day event on Friday night with JJ’s West Coast Tacos and The Natchez Trace Band on stage at 7 p.m.,” Hamm said. “The festivities will continue on Saturday, Sept. 27, at 11a.m. We can’t wait to see you there, and remember, ‘Life’s too short to drink baaaad beer.’”
