CHICAGO — They’ve braved turbulence, triaged trauma midair and delivered care from thousands of feet above.

But five Chicago flight medic nurses say their most unexpected rescue mission came not from the sky but from within.

Alex Tang, Michelle Lambright, Kendra Arjes, Sarah Hanko, Caitlin Kilcoyne are University of Chicago Aeromedical Network flight nurses.

And these airborne heroes found themselves grounded by motherhood, all at the same time. They discovered they were expecting their babies within a few months of each other.

From saving lives to creating them these women prove that sometimes the most powerful journeys begin with a little lift, and a lot of love.

WGN’s Erin McElroy met up with them and their five high flying babies at the very helipad where their story took flight.
