Caught on video: Cell phone driver slams into car, wall during Napa County police chase
The incident happened Tuesday afternoon in the area of Eucalyptus and Donaldson Way.
Police said they later learned the suspect, identified as Laron Hamilton, 24, was on felony probation out of Solano, Sacramento and Alameda counties.
“The officer gave chase as Hamilton drove recklessly, crashing into an uninvolved motorist before slamming into a retaining wall in the intersection of Rio Del Mar and Los Altos,” said police in a social media post. “Hamilton ran from the crash, but he wasn’t fast enough to get away from our officer.”
It is not known yet if drugs or alcohol were factors in the incident. Police did not disclose if the struck motorist was injured.
Hamilton was booked into a Napa County jail for two unrelated warrants and several charges, including hit and run, evading an officer, and expired registration.
