Hugh Freeze announced during the SEC weekly coaches’ teleconference that Horatio Fields broke his foot in Tuesday’s practice and will be out for an indefinite amount of time.
Fields transferred to Auburn this offseason from Wake Forest and has played a role in the receiving room through the first four games for Auburn. He’s hauled in 12 catches for 106 yards and a touchdown this season.
Fields is a senior, and it is not clear if he will apply for a medical redshirt or attempt to return this season.
Freeze said sophomore Perry Thompson will have to step up in Fields’ absence. Thompson was a five-star recruit out of Foley High School.
Auburn is coming off its first loss of the season and will travel to No. 9 Texas A&M on Saturday.
