CPD said officers responded to the initial collision at 8:58 a.m. on northbound San Tomas Expressway near Hamilton Avenue.
The second incident involving the tow truck drivers happened around 11:08 a.m. Both were taken to a nearby hospital with undisclosed injuries and are currently in stable condition, according to Campbell PD.
Police said the driver of the vehicle is cooperating with officers. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors, and the incident remains under investigation.
“Please slow down and give space when you see tow trucks, emergency vehicles, or flashing lights,” said police in a social media post. “Their safety depends on your attention.”
