RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – Authorities said a 19-year-old, who was out on bond for murder and aggravated assault, was arrested in Rankin County after fleeing from a trooper.

According to authorities, a Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) State Trooper observed a 2008 Honda Accord just before 11:00 a.m., traveling eastbound on Interstate 20 near the 64-mile marker without a visible tag. The trooper stopped the vehicle for a traffic violation.

Officials said the driver, who was identified as Tavon Cain, of Vicksburg, was asked to step out of the vehicle. As the trooper began to conduct an interview, authorities said Cain ran away.

The trooper was informed by dispatch that Cain was out on bond in Warren County for three counts of aggravated assault and one count of murder.

Following a search, Cain was arrested at the QuikTrip on U.S. 49 near U.S. 80 in Pearl. He was transported to the Rankin County Detention Center.

According to MHP, Cain was charged with no tag, no insurance, two seat belt violations, failure to comply, resisting arrest, and a no-bond hold for murder.
