Guo’s husband, 43-year-old Howard Wang, will be arraigned in court Tuesday afternoon.
Prosecutors said the couple and Cheng were at home inside their Kelobra Court residence when Wang killed both women on September 18.
Wang and two young children were still inside the house when police officers arrived and found the bodies, police said. Walnut Creek police said the victims were shot to death.
District Attorney Diana Becton said, “This tragic case is a stark reminder of the devastating toll domestic violence takes — not only on the victims whose lives were lost, but on families and the community as a whole.”
Investigators uncovered evidence that Wang’s alleged domestic abuse against his wife dated back to 2023, according to a criminal complaint filed by prosecutors. In the summer of 2024, the husband made death threats against Guo, and in January of 2023, he prevented his wife from reporting a crime to police, prosecutors said.
If Wang is found guilty at trial, he could be sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
