Triangle-area man charged with sexual exploitation in Chesterfield County, SC investigation

CHERAW, S.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A Triangle-area man was arrested Monday in Chesterfield County after being accused of possessing child sexual abuse material. 

Deputies say that 25-year-old Myron Wilson, of Apex, North Carolina, was the center of a sexual misconduct investigation involving two minors. Chesterfield County investigator Robinson was called to a residence off Wren Lane in Cheraw, where it was reported that Wilson may be in possession of child pornography on his electronic devices. 

With Wilson’s consent, deputies say a preliminary search of his devices was conducted. Investigators allegedly discovered files consistent with a numerous amount of child sexual abuse material. 

Wilson was immediately placed under arrest and transported to the Chesterfield County Detention Center. He was charged Tuesday with seven counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. and is currently awaiting a bond hearing. 

This remains an active investigation, and additional charges may be considered as forensic review of the devices continues. 

Sheriff Cambo Streater made note this arrest demonstrates the agency’s commitment to protecting children and holding offenders accountable. 

“We will continue to work closely with our partners in North Carolina to ensure that justice is served both here and across state lines,” he said in a statement.
