Louisiana Art and Science Museum host free first Sunday

BATON ROUGE, La. (KLFY) – The Louisiana Art & Science Museum will host its next Free First Sunday on October 5, from 1 PM to 5 PM located in Baton Rouge.

Visitors can enjoy free admission to the museum and a special $5 rate for unlimited shows at the Irene W. Pennington Planetarium. With general admission generously sponsored by BASF, this monthly event allows for families to have an afternoon of exploration, education, and entertainment for all ages says Sarah Haneline, LASM Board of Trustees member and BASF employee.

“BASF’s sponsorship of Free First Sunday allows everyone in our community to experience the wonders of science, art, history, and culture without barriers,” said Haneline, “We believe access to educational and enriching experiences is essential, and we hope this day inspires a lifelong love of learning.”

Free First Sunday offers families, students, and lifelong learners the chance to participate in LASM’s exhibitions and interactive experiences at no cost. From ancient artifacts to cutting-edge STEAM education, the museum delivers immersive learning experiences designed to inspire curiosity and creativity.

In addition to art galleries, a 2,300-year-old mummy, a 65-million-year-old Triceratops skull, and a state- of-the-art planetarium, visitors can explore the museum’s hands-on spaces—one of which features an Interactive Periodic Table, a highlight of the newly renovated STEAM Station and generously funded by the BASF.
