HAPPENING NOW: Train crashes into truck in central Abilene

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – A train crashed into a truck in central Abilene Tuesday afternoon.

The incident happened on the track near Sayles Boulevard and S 1st Street around 1:30 p.m.

The wife of the driver involved says another vehicle cut her husband off, so he slammed on his brakes to avoid the crash, which caused them to lock and his truck wouldn’t move.

Both the wife and another witness say the driver was able to jump from his truck to safety just seconds before impact.

When KTAB and KRBC arrived on scene, there was no ambulance present and officers were talking to someone who was likely involved.

Police said they will be giving information via a press release soon.
