
The official fall equinox will occur at 1:19 in the afternoon which should follow an active mid morning for rain with a 90 percent chance of rain from 9 through noon. Rain totals Monday could be between a half to on inch. Sunday began the rain pattern with 0.73 inches falling at KTLO, Classic Hits and the Boot. Up until then only 0.03 inches of rain had fallen through the month of September with the last significant rain event occurring August 29 where 0.24 inches of rain was recorded.
In a release from the National Weather Service, officials warn that a multiple day rainfall event is expected across Arkansas beginning Monday and lasting through Thursday morning. Rainfall totals from Monday into Tuesday are forecast at 1 to 2 inches, with some areas in northern Arkansas potentially receiving 2 to 3 inches. As daily rainfall continues, soils are expected to become saturated, increasing the threat of flooding with each round of storms. The highest risk for widespread flooding is anticipated from Tuesday through Wednesday night, and severe weather is also possible each day, primarily in the form of damaging winds and isolated hail up to one inch in size.
