Escaped Ohio inmate captured by FBI in Kentucky
The Mason County, Kentucky, Sheriff’s Office confirmed just after 11:15 p.m. on Monday that Jerry Cooper had been caught.
Authorities said he had remained in Mason County, Kentucky, as they suspected, before two individuals picked him up and took him to Louisville.
MCSO said a team from the FBI apprehended him there.
A $10,000 reward had just been announced by the FBI in Louisville on Monday for Cooper’s capture. He had been on the run since Sept. 16.
Cooper was considered armed and dangerous while hiding in a wooded area near Tuckahoe Road and Lee’s Creek Road.
The couple who reportedly helped Cooper get to Louisville, Marlana and William Strausbaugh, are being held on federal charges, including second-degree hindering prosecution or apprehension and second-degree escape.
MCSO said they could face additional federal charges.
