DEKALB, Ill. (WTVO) — A DeKalb woman was arrested Monday after allegedly hitting her fiancé with a beer bottle during a drunken argument.

According to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to an apartment in the 1400 block of Twombly Road, and met with a woman who had suffered a bleeding laceration to her head.

Investigators learned that the woman and her fiancé, Karen Fetsick, 61, had argued about how many 40-oz. beers each had consumed. Police said Fetsick went to the kitchen and began dumping out the garbage to prove how many empty bottles were there. As the argument continued, authorities said Fetsick picked up one of the empty beer bottles and smashed it over the victim’s head.

The victim called the police once the couple had separated. She was taken to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries.

Fetsick was arrested on charges of domestic battery and taken to the DeKalb County Jail, pending the outcome of a pretrial detention hearing.
