3 children hospitalized after multi-car crash in Louisiana

PONCHATOULA, La. (WGNO) — Three children are recovering following a multi-vehicle crash in Ponchatoula on Monday, Sept. 22.

Around 6:27 p.m., officers responded to the scene of a three-vehicle crash with injuries on Highway 51 North near St. Patrick’s Boulevard. Vehicles involved were a Chevy Silverado, a GMC Terrain and a Hyundai Tucson. The investigation revealed nine passengers were involved, including three children ages 2, 5 and 7, who were all airlifted to hospitals.

All other injured passengers were taken to different hospitals, including North Oak Medical Center, Lakeview Hospital and Our Lady of the Lake-Children’s Hospital.

Two drivers submitted blood kits as the crash remains under investigation.

PPD Chief Layrisson is asking for witnesses to step forward with any information about the crash.
