At 5 p.m. on Sunday, three pedestrians were standing on the shoulder of I-70 near mile marker 222 after their vehicle had been disabled from a previous crash. Another driver from Topeka was driving a Ford Fusion west on I-70 when they lost control and the vehicle started to roll. The Kansas Highway Patrol said the Ford Fusion continued to roll towards the disabled vehicle and hit the three pedestrians.
The three pedestrians ranged in age from 22 to 26 years old and were from Osage City and Topeka. The three were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment of their injuries. The occupants of the Ford Fusion sustained minor injuries.
The KHP reported that the occupants of the Ford Fusion were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
