Teens caught by police for car theft and damage in downtown Rockford
ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Two teens from Rockford, 16 and 14 years old, were arrested at 1:20 a.m. for breaking into vehicles and trying to steal a car, police said.

Rockford Police said it was Sunday morning when officers were sent to investigate criminal damage to property in the 200 block of S. Main Street. While they were on-scene, they were advised of two teens allegedly breaking into cars.

Officers were able to catch the pair.

The 16-year-old male juvenile was charged with a curfew violation, attempted motor vehicle theft, and felony criminal damage. He was released to his parent or guardian.

The 14-year-old was charged with a curfew violation, attempted motor vehicle theft, felony criminal damage, a probation violation, and possession of burglary tools.

The latter suspect was taken to the Juvenile Detention Center.
