San Angelo man shot in face, suspect arrested after 9th Street shooting

SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — A 35-year-old man was hospitalized after a shooting Saturday night near 9th Street and Chadbourne Street, according to the San Angelo Police Department.

Police said officers were dispatched to the area at approximately 8:15 p.m. Sept. 20 and found Enemencio DeLaRosa suffering from gunshot wounds to his facial area. DeLaRosa was transported to a hospital, where he remains in stable condition.

During the investigation, officers identified Alan Helms, 34, as the suspect. Helms was taken into custody at the scene and later booked into the Tom Green County Jail on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

SAPD said the preliminary investigation indicates the shooting was an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to the community.

The case remains under active investigation. No further details were released.
