ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Local police officers and firefighters will face off in the “Rockford Hero Rumble,” a charity boxing event on November 1st at Hard Rock Casino Rockford to support the Carrie Lynn Children’s Center.

The event, sanctioned by USA Boxing, will feature six bouts between Stateline officers and local firefighters, with the department winning the most matches taking home a team trophy.

“To be chosen as a recipient of an event like this in general is an awesome thing,” said Kathy Pomahac, executive director of Carrie Lynn Children’s Center.

“The Rockford Hero Rumble is more than just an event—it’s a celebration of courage, service, and unity,” said Carla Redd, Chief of Police at Rockford Police Department.

State Representative Dave Vella expressed his support, saying, “Not only will it be a fun experience, but it will support our great first responders who bravely serve our community each day.”

The Rockford Hero Rumble is co-produced by Jimmy Goodman, club director of Rockford Boxing Club and vice president of USA Boxing-Illinois, and Plus Seven Company. It has garnered support from the Rockford Police Department, Rockford Fire Department, Winnebago County State’s Attorney J. Hanley, State Representative Dave Vella, and Hard Rock Casino Rockford.

Team Police is led by honorary team captain and State Representative Dave Vella.

The fight card includes bouts such as:

  • Light Heavyweight Men: Davonte Williams (Team Police, Winnebago Country Sheriff’s Office) vs. Owen Seabold (Team Fire, Stillman Valley Fire)
  • Super Middleweight Women: Alexis Beu (Team Police, Rockford Police Department) vs. Nicole Scott (Team Fire, Dispatcher Representing Rockford Fire Department)
  • Cruiserweight Men: Tyler Borgen (Team Police, Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office) vs. Raul Rangel (Team Fire, Loves Park Fire Department)
  • Light Heavyweight Women: Claudia Grenlund (Team Police, Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office) vs. Kimberly Delgado (Team Fire, Cherry Valley Fire Department)
  • Cruiserweight Men: James Nachampassack (Team Police, Rockford Police Department) vs. Alex Miramontes (Team Fire, EMT Representing Loves Park Fire)
  • Heavyweight Men: Michael Roushia (Team Police, Rockford Police Department) vs. Brandon Sullivan (Team Fire, Rockford Fire Department)

The proceeds will aid the Carrie Lynn Children’s Center in its mission to help victims of child sexual and physical abuse in Winnebago and Boone counties.
