IMPD: Woman shot man who sexually assaulted her
INDIANAPOLIS — A woman shot a man who allegedly sexually assaulted her on the northeast side of Indianapolis Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers were called to the 6300 block of Meadowlark Drive around 2:07 p.m. to investigate a report of shots fired. When police arrived at the scene, they located a woman who is believed to be the victim of a sexual assault.

IMPD indicated that the man who allegedly assaulted the woman fled the scene before officers made it to the area. Police also reported that the woman fired shots at the man as he was leaving the area.

A short time after IMPD located the alleged sexual assault victim, the Speedway Police Department found a man with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds in the 2200 block of North Lynhurst Drive. Police currently believe the man they found on Lynhurst Drive is the man who allegedly assaulted the woman on Meadowlark Drive.

IMPD confirmed that the man was transported from Lynhurst Drive to a local hospital in stable condition. He has since been arrested.

Police indicated that the woman was in stable condition.

IMPD’s sex offense unit is investigating the incident.
