The family confirmed with YourCentralValley that their beloved 10-year-old boy was named Corday Brown.
According to the California Highway Patrol, just after 4 p.m. on Sunday, they responded to Highway 99 near Cesar Chavez Boulevard for a report of a collision involving a pedestrian.
CHP reported a truck was headed southbound on Highway 99, taking the Cesar Chavez Boulevard exit, when, allegedly, about 10 kids were playing around the fast lane of the off-ramp.
Investigators say the driver attempted to avoid them, but ultimately struck Brown. Officers performed CPR on scene before he was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
CHP is actively working to determine the circumstances that led up to the crash.
