Hail hits east metro during overnight storms; local rain totals
Hail hits east metroStorms overnight brought hail to parts of the Twin Cities.
Storms late Sunday night and into early Monday morning brought some bursts of heavy rain across the state, but it also dropped hail on parts of the east metro.
Pictures and videos from 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS viewers showed hail pouring down, with the chunks ranging from pea-size to nickel size in areas.
No serious damage was reported.

Rain totals ranged from shy of an inch to close to 2 inches across the metro and southern Minnesota, with a small area far east and into western Wisconsin recording around 3 inches. Some rain totals from the National Weather Service are as follows:

Eagan — 1.04″
Eden Prairie — 0.65″
Edina — 1.4″

Minnetonka — 1.2″
Maple Grove — 0.31″
Point Douglas — 3.44″
Red Wing — 2.28″
Rosemount — 2.64″
Woodbury — 2.3″
Monday will be nice and dry, with a pleasant week ahead.
