Grand opening date announced for newest Mega Mart in Bay Area
The store will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Customers can also attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9:30 a.m. The Mega Mart in East Palo Alto is located at 1775 E Bayshore Road — the former site of a Target that shuttered in fall 2024. Starting Sept. 25, Mega Mart in East Palo Alto will open daily at 8 a.m.
According to Mega Mart, customers can expect the following at the East Palo Alto location:
Mega Mart in East Palo Alto marks the third location in the Bay Area, joining Sunnyvale and Fremont.
Mega Mart in East Palo Alto gives customers the opportunity to shop for more than just Korean groceries.
“We are preparing to offer a wide range of products that customers want, including Korean direct-imported goods, deli foods, and Korean beauty products,” a Mega Mart spokesperson wrote in an email to KRON4.
The Target that Mega Mart is replacing closed in September 2024 due to “prolonged underperformance.” KRON4 reported in February that Mega Mart said it planned to open in the second half of 2025.
The East Palo Alto Mega Mart adds to the company’s growing presence in the Bay Area. Mega Mart owns Jagalchi, a Korean supermarket that opened in Daly City in March.
