Ghost gun and loaded pistol found in car with two teens near Freeport
Around 9:55 p.m. on Friday, September 19th, Stephenson County Sheriff’s Deputies stopped a black 2016 Kia Optima near South Street and Walnut Avenue for multiple moving violations.
Once deputies had spoken with the teenage occupants, they developed probable cause to search the car, police said.
During the search, authorities found two loaded 9mm pistols, one of which was a polymer weapon commonly sold as a kit and assembled at home.
Both teens, ages 16 and 17, were arrested and charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and possession of a firearm without a Firearm Owners’ Identification card.
Both teens were taken to the Kane County Juvenile Detention Center.
