APSO: Two students arrested after investigation into bomb threat at high school

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Two juveniles were arrested after an investigation into a bomb threat by the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office.

The bomb threat towards Assumption Parish High School on Friday, Sept. 19 was proven to be false.

APSO said they learned around 5 p.m. that two students made a social media post “that showed thoughts of bringing a bomb to school.”

They said the post was then shared by multiple people before law enforcement and the school administration learned about it.

The two students were found immediately and the ensuing investigation led APSO to conclude that the threat was not credible.

APSO said, “the two juveniles were arrested via Verified Complaint for Communicating of false information of planned bombing on school property.”

Assumption Parish High School released this statement regarding the incident and investigation.

“Attention students, parents, staff and community members. The Assumption Parish School District is committed to keeping a safe and nurturing environment for all students and staff members. In doing so we work closely with our local and state law enforcement agencies.”

In this case, they referred to working with the local sheriff’s department.

They said, “Matters such as this are not taken lightly. As always, we want to thank them for their continuous service and support.”
