“Am I dreaming?” Monroe woman wins $100K from scratch-off she played for first time

MONROE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A Union County woman got some beginner’s luck from winning $100,000 on a scratch-off game she played for the first time.

Lottery officials said Vannesa Hidalgo bought a $30 200X The Cash ticket from Singh’s Mark on East Franklin Street in Monroe.

“I was like, ‘Is this real or am I dreaming?’” Hidalgo recalled. “I couldn’t believe it.” 

Hidalgo said she plans on using the money to help her family. “I’m just really shocked,” she said.

The 200X The Cash game debuted in March of 2024 with five $5 million top prizes and 10 $100,000 prizes. Three $5 million prizes and six $100,000 prizes have yet to be claimed.
