In an update from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department on Monday morning, aggravated assault detectives officially arrested 21-year-old Carlos Contreras in connection with this incident.

“Several officers arrived very quickly to this incident, and multiple cooperative witnesses provided responding officers with a suspect and vehicle description,” the update read. “The vehicle was spotted almost immediately, trying to flee the area. After a brief vehicle pursuit, the driver, later identified as Contreras, was taken into custody.”

INDIANAPOLIS — An investigation is underway after three people were injured in a shooting on Indy’s northwest side Saturday night.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, just after 11 p.m., officers near the 5600 block of Georgetown Road heard gunfire and rushed to the scene.

When officers arrived, they located three victims with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds. At least one victim was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. The conditions of the other victims are unknown.

A public police report indicates 21-year-old Carlos Eduardo Contreras was arrested for his alleged role in the shooting. The report shows that Contreras faces the following preliminary charges:

  • Resisting law enforcement with a vehicle — a Level 6 Felony
  • Possession of a machine gun — a Level 5 Felony
  • Criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon — a Level 6 Felony
