10 best places to see fall foliage in Chicagoland

CHICAGO (WGN) — As summer fades, the cooler air and shorter days mean trees across Illinois are reaching their peak color, making this one of the best times of year to get outside.

Whether you want a quick walk in the city or a day trip surrounded by nature, here are 10 of the best places to catch fall foliage in and around Chicagoland.

With more than 1,700 acres of trees, wetlands and trails, the Morton Arboretum is a premier destination for leaf peepers. The wide variety of tree species makes for a vibrant display of colors, and the trails offer everything from easy walks to longer hikes.

Chicago Botanic Garden (Glencoe)

The garden is a favorite year-round, but fall is especially stunning. Maples, oaks and prairie grasses light up the landscape. The bridges, lakes and island pathways create picture-perfect views of the season.
