CHICAGO — A 20-year-old man died after being found with a gunshot wound in an overturned vehicle that had crashed into multiple parked cars overnight on the Far South Side, according to Chicago police.

Police say officers responded to a call of a crash in the 10100 block of South Avenue M, in the East Side neighborhood, around 12:30 a.m. Sunday. Upon arrival, they found a silver SUV overturned on its side after it had hit multiple parked cars that were unoccupied.

Officers found the 20-year-old man unresponsive inside the SUV, and further investigation revealed he had a gunshot wound to the head, according to police. The man was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Additionally, police say a 20-year-old woman was shot in the leg and went to a residence, where she contacted emergency services and was taken to an area hospital in good condition.

Police say a weapon was recovered at the scene, but nobody is in custody and there are no further details about the incident at this time. Area detectives are investigating.
